For an exceptional and intimate dining affair, Cocina Consuelo stands out as the ultimate experience. Co-founded by Karina, a Harlem native with Dominican heritage, and Eduardo, originating from Huejotzingo, Puebla, Cocina Consuelo offers curated pre-fixed menus for intimate gatherings in their cozy apartment, blending expert culinary skill with the warmth of home.

Back in 2020, Karina and Eduardo were flourishing in prestigious culinary roles—Karina in Eleven Madison Park's kitchen and Eduardo behind the bar at Cosme. However, fate intervened, leading to their furlough from their jobs amidst the global crisis.

Yearning for the comforting flavors of home, Eduardo shared his longing with Karina, sparking her journey to recreate his grandmother's recipes. As their apartment walls were repainted to vibrant colors, so did Karina’s mind as she mastered the intricate art of preparing Birria, a dish traditionally prepared over 15 hours. Eduardo was astonished how Karina could transport him back to his grandmother’s house in Puebla.

Inspired by the overwhelming success of Karina's Birria, Cocina Consuelo came into being. What began as a modest take-out and delivery service soon garnered widespread acclaim for its rich flavors and heart. Evolving beyond tacos, they blossomed into a culinary sanctuary, inviting guests to intimate tables with multi-course menus that honor ancestral techniques and adjusts with the seasons. A private, intimate dinner offering that is in full effect today. That is until their brand new location opens its doors.

Now, Karina and Eduardo are embarking on the next chapter of their culinary journey, bringing Cocina Consuelo to their community through a brick-and-mortar establishment.

Set to open in Karina's childhood neighborhood, this expansion signifies their deep-rooted connection to the community and their commitment to nourishing and uplifting their neighbors. With locals actively shaping the menu and ambiance, Cocina Consuelo's new storefront promises to be a vibrant hub of cultural exchange, celebration, and connection—a testament to the unifying power of food.
